The purpose of the Economic Affairs Committee is to address, advise and educate the AMP Board of Directors, membership, payers, legislators and the public on economic issues of importance to the field of molecular pathology.

The committee prepares documents of importance to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and develops and advocates for sound economic policies that promote the provision of high-quality molecular pathology services.

Responsibilities

The committee works on various topics in the coding, coverage and reimbursement sphere.

This includes participating in the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding and the pricing of molecular pathology codes and working with various groups on the coverage of molecular testing.

The committee also actively engages in public policy that could have an economic impact on molecular pathology practice. It interacts with other organizations to achieve common goals.
