JMD publishes high-quality original papers that report scientific advances in the translation and validation of molecular discoveries in medicine into the clinical diagnostic setting and that describe and apply technological advances in molecular diagnostic medicine.

JMD is the official publication of the Association for Molecular Pathology and co-owned by the American Society for Investigative Pathology.

Articles report:

• novel discoveries with direct application to clinical diagnostics or clinicopathologic correlations, including studies in oncology, infectious diseases, hematopathology, inherited diseases, predisposition to disease, or the description of polymorphisms linked to disease states or normal variations
• the application of diagnostic methodologies in clinical trials
• the development of new or improved molecular methods for diagnosis or monitoring of disease or disease predisposition.

JMD also publishes Technical Advances (articles about novel methods to solve diagnostic dilemmas), Reviews and Mini-Reviews, Commentaries, Spotlights and Special Articles.
