Development of Analytical Validation Standards for Next-generation Sequencing (NGS) Detection of Somatic Variants

This project is focused on the development of a guideline that addresses the requirements for the analytical validation of NGS as it pertains to the detection of somatic variants.  Project is chaired by Dr. Larry Jennings (Lurie Children’s Hospital).

Interpretation of Sequence variants in Somatic Conditions

This project is focused on the development of recommendations for standards in interpretation of somatically acquired sequence variations building upon previous work in inherited conditions developed by an ACMG-AMP-CAP coalition. Project is chaired by Dr. Marilyn Li (Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia).

Past Projects

Do Circulating Tumor Cells, Exosomes and Circulating Nucleic Acids Have Clinical Utility for Molecular Pathologists?: A Report of the Association for Molecular Pathology.

Led by Drs. Bert Gold and Milena Cankovic. Manuscript published in JMD in May 2015

MSI Working Group

The MSI working group met in November 2004 and discussed aspects of microsatellite instability (MSI) testing in colon cancer. The group is currently assembling a manuscript to address a number of areas of potential concern that laboratories may have in the implementation of MSI testing, including what tissue to test, which loci to examine, how to integrate immunohistochemistry, test interpretation and reporting and pitfalls. Project led by Dr. Deborah Dillon.
