Co-Chairs, Membership and Professional Development Committee

Your AMP Membership & Professional Development Committee (MPDC) is working on several projects of interest to the general membership. Our newest initiative is the 2010 launch of an international membership grant program that will use generous donations to the AMP Leadership Fund to annually sponsor AMP memberships for five non-U.S. lab professionals from institutions and/or countries with limited resources.

As for related “international” themes, MPDC is continuing to work with interested international members to better define the organization’s vision for service and outreach to our international members. The MPDC has formulated formal AMP-approved guidelines for both “International Chapters” as well as “Geographic and Interest Groups”. What should be AMP’s role in promoting molecular pathology outside of North America? Ideas and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

As usual, if you are interested in serving AMP as a volunteer on one of its many Committees, we remind you once again that a comprehensive list of these volunteer opportunities is available on the AMP website at http://www.amp.org/AboutAmp/getinvolved.htm or by contacting either us or Membership and Professional Development Committee members Robyn Temple-Smolkin or Shuji Ogino.
