Nominating Committee Report

The AMP annual election is complete and the newly elected Committee members have begun wondering exactly what their obligations and responsibilities are for the next year or years. Congratulations to all of you. I thank everyone who generously agreed to run for office this year. The Nominating Committee was and is convinced that each and every one of the candidates on the ballot was fully capable of fulfilling the duties of the office; so please, run again next year or in the future. AMP depends upon the hard work of our members in order to fulfill its mission. The strength of this Society and its increasing influence are directly a result of our office holders and other volunteers. In addition, I am reminding all new office holders that they are expected to attend their Committee meetings at the Annual Meeting on Wednesday, November 16. More information will be forthcoming by e-mail in July, but keep it in mind when making your reservations.

I thank and recognize the members of the Nominating Committee for their help this year. The 2011 members of the Committee are:

Hematopathology Representatives: Domnita Crisan & Rita M Braziel
Infectious Diseases Representatives: Preeti Pancholi & Robyn Temple-Smolkin
Solid Tumors Representatives: Catherine Dumur & Antonia R Sepulveda
Home Office Representatives: Mary Steele Williams & Kathleen Carmody

The ballot would not have been complete without them, and without Mary Williams and Kathleen Carmody there would not have been a ballot at all.

Finally, I want to emphasize that the Nominating Committee is always looking for members who want to run for office. If this year was not a good year for you, next year might be better. I can speak from personal experience that it is worthwhile and tremendously rewarding both personally and professionally.
