Call for Case Review Authors

Details and Requirements for Case Reviews

AMP has the opportunity to help educate the readers of CAP Today (circulation 50K) by providing short Case Reviews. That's where you come in - volunteers are needed from each AMP Subdivision to draft a case review for potential publication in CAP Today. Take advantage of this opportunity to show off your expertise, be of service to AMP, and get visibility to thousands of your colleagues!

General information and guidelines for the reviews include:

  • A clinical case (no patient identifiers) that illustrates the important role of molecular testing to achieve an appropriate diagnosis, prognosis, role in treatment selection, etc. The case should emphasize the role of molecular diagnostics in patient care rather than the technical aspects of the test.
  • Length: approximately 1,000 words (flexible, depending on need to communicate case)
  • Narrative format, images, tables and diagrams can be used and are encouraged - color, if available.
  • Three questions about the case with answers
  • Short list of relevant references
  • An annual editorial calendar will be distributed; authors will have a minimum of two months to prepare and submit their case review.
  • Authors will have the opportunity to review and comment upon any revisions desired by the CAP Today editors.

The AMP Case Reviews for CAP Today are intended to help pathologists not yet especially familiar with molecular pathology to understand the power and appropriate use of molecular tests. The teaching strategy will be to take them from what they do know, e.g., special stains, to new knowledge in molecular pathology. Authors will have direct access to the CAP Today Editor and others who may be of assistance throughout the process of drafting the Review.
